Literature Text

He sat in the pew, his mind lost on the tracks, his thoughts chugging along. Somewhere ahead, he lay bound and gagged, like a cartoon victim. He could hardly remember the last time he’d set foot in a church, but he was not a stranger to the feel of his knees pressing on the bar, or the dignified smell of the burning incense. The prayers, half remembered, slipped from his lips in fragments, the ghosts of a childhood friends. He sat through the sermon, resisting the urge to shout aloud, fist raised, and instead put his face in his hands and cried. When the others in attendance shuffled past him in the aisle, he remained seated. As the last of them made their exit, he stood and walked stiff-leggedly to the confessional booth. He pulled aside the velvet curtain and awaited the priest, not looking up at the wrought iron grate until he heard the soft rustling in the neighboring booth. He sat down, hearing the protesting groan of the partition as the priest opened it.
“Forgive me father, for I have sinned”

Notes: find the words the preist says

man cries and feels his shirt and jacket wet with them
Priest says that there is hope in god
Man replies that god is dead where he's going and lights cigarette.
The tears on his face catch fire and spread, he is silent as he burns
nun walks in and sweeps up the ashes.

As of yet unfinished, but def. shows promise.
